Dearie

“Cooking gave her structure, it was substantive, meaningful, it brought her accomplishment and independence, everything she’d long desired.  The last thing she wanted was a conventional life.  Julia dreaded turning into the obedient little woman…. Far from resenting the kitchen to which she was virtually chained, she learned to love the feel of food and to love working with it: “the variety of dishes and sauces and arrangements,” she said “are immensely stimulating for the imagination.””

      • Isn’t it wonderful when a book is so well wirtten that it inspires you to do something, I have watched the movie and really got a lot out of it, maybe it’s time to read the book. However, I’ve just purchased a cook book The Great British Bake Off as part of my daughters birthday present. She is going to be 11, but has a passion for watching cooking program’s and when she gets the chance she’ll be in the kitchen cooking. I’m hoping to turn Sunday mornings over to us cooking one recipe from her new book each week. Maybe, we should bake bread as our first go.:)

    • Thank you, thank you, thank you for passing the book to me.The first caepthr was devoured last evening as dessert!I’ve used many of Julia’s recipes over the past 30 years and believe that butter is better!Repeatedly watch all of her TV shows and especially enjoy her with Jacques.Remember the coda to the title is: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child.Personally, most of us have had or are having: REMARKABLE Lives filled with clean drinking water, wine, delicious meals, and our freedoms as Americans. We are blessed and have our pursuit of happiness and food as by-lines.Thanks for including ME in your blog A Smear here, a Smear there. Bread, butter, and red wine!
